In this article, I will explain and show the good places in Istanbul. Istanbul is known by people around the world and it has thousands of years historical and the most beautiful buildings. It is in the center of civilizations.
Hagia Sophia Mosque (Ayasofya Camii Şerif-i) has a very important international legacy. It was made by I. Justinianus 27 December 537 AD. Previously, it was a church. In the construction of the building, columns of other historic structures were brought. For example, columns from the Ephesus, The Temple of Artemis at Türkiye, the Sun Temple in Egypt, Baalbek Temple in Lebanon, among others were used in its construction. The building was damaged at various times because of earthquakes, fires etc. After that, the building was repaired again. However, it was looted by the Latin Christians during the 4th crusade in 1202 CE. They stole everything valuable and there was a lot of damage in the building.
The building has valuable gold mosaics and these mosaics have remained until today. Fatih Sultan Mehmet took care of and fixed the Hagia Sophia. He protected the mosaics and made sure they remained until today. However, the architect Sinan fixed the mosque and he made additions for it to be strongly built.
Istanbul was conquered by Fatih Sultan Mehmet as part of the Ottoman Empire on 29 May, 1453
